My love of sauna started to grow about two decades ago with the discovery that tired muscles were much relieved after a sauna session. As my tolerance to hot and cold has increased, so have the benefits become more apparent. I am not naturally a cold plunger but it’s remarkable how the body adapts. I have to admit that the festival sauna experience was also pivotal; after a night of indulgence and a subsequent sauna session I was amazed to find my hangover gone!!

‘It is the heat that purifies’ but the contrast of hot and cold is where the magic happens and the health benefits are realised.

We are enjoying a huge boom in sauna popularity, alongside the growth of the wild and cold swimming family, which is worldwide and expanding constantly. Wim Hof, ‘The Iceman’, has inspired a generation to master cold water immersion, adopt simple breathing techniques and to understand the science behind the cold/hot contrast and how this is so beneficial to our health and wellbeing.

Phoenix Sauna is wheelchair accessible and we are always available to assist with any access issues.
